Dr. Sophie Parker

Dr. Sophie Parker is the Lead Scientist for Climate at The Nature Conservancy in California. In TNC’s California Chapter, Sophie provides science leadership to the Climate Program. This includes leading our Energy Science team in developing guidance to inform the siting of renewable energy across the American West. Sophie has over 25 years of experience in ecology and conservation science. Prior to joining the Conservancy, she was a postdoctoral scholar studying soil ecology. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she examined soil nitrogen cycling in California grasslands. One of Sophie’s long-term career goals is to better integrate the fields of soil science and ecosystem ecology into conservation practice.
